Cutting Edge Voices, a website devoted to women making music features an interview with NV in their current issue. This is a website which focuses on artists and their process, offering the artists they feature a forum in which to speak at length, and in their own words.

We hope New Yorkers will join us for our August concert at the Rockwood Music Hall on Tuesday, August 19th, at 9PM. For this show, Noe will be joined by Greta Gertler on keys and vocals, and Yair Evnine on cello and vocals. Please see the shows page for details.

Some time ago, Noe sang at a concert in honor of Jason Crigler, a phenomenal New York guitarist who has spent the last few years recovering from a brain injury. Jason's story is an inspiration, and there were many New York singers and musicians who came together to honor his work and his journey by singing at the concert that gave rise to this album. Noe appears on the record singing Jason's song "Commonwealth Row." You can find it on Jason's website.

Jason is also the subject of an award winning documentary by filmmaker Eric Daniel Metzgar. The film is called Life. Support. Music. More about the film and about Jason's story here.

Noe Venable's New York CD Release Concert for

The Summer Storm Journals

In other words, virtually the entire cast of my new album, the Summer Storm Journals, all there, in one place, in one show, in one musical evening. This will in fact be the first time we've ever all been in one place, since the album was pieced together out of sessions recorded in so many different places. The show will be held in an old off Broadway Theater called the Zipper Factory. It's a quite a bit larger than our usual haunts, so we're hoping you'll come and bring everyone you know.

Opening the show will be the astonishing Payton MacDonald, doing a set of his solo marimba material. You've never heard marimba played like this... http://www.paytonmacdonald.com

Noe talks about the writing and recording of the Summer Storm Journals, organic produce, and the joys of live nature recording, and performs some of the songs live with violinist Alan Lin. The performance spanned two shows, hosted by Bonnie Simmons and Derk Richardson on Berkeley's own KPFA. You can hear the show, dated August 23rd, 2007, in their archives.
